[UPDATED] Becca's throat slit, teeth pulled, needs help, but still smiles (Photos)

Becca is no ordinary Retriever. She was dumped and left for dead in Southwest Houston after horrific abuse and meticulous torture--but she survived.

Becca was found Tuesday morning, August 20th, after being tossed over the fence like nothing more than trash, near a local dumping area. She has experienced a level of abuse that would make most human cringe, and it is unimaginable that she not only survived, but continues to love people. Here are the gruesome details.

She had her throat slit and had been stabbed multiple times all over her mouth, throat and back. Becca's canine teeth had all been pulled, and her gums had long cuts from one side to the other. Finally, she had a long gash down her back between her shoulder blades, presumably where her microchip would have been. Whether or not she was actually microchipped will always be a mystery, but the long slice in her flesh will not.

Somehow, Becca managed to survive her abuse. Fortunately she was found the next morning by kennel staff and is now being treated for her wounds and, if you can believe it, already looking for her new forever home.

There are cameras nearby the dumping area, so the rescue caring for her, the Forgotten Pet Advocates, is hoping that her story goes viral. Any readers or followers are urged to contact their local media to cover this story, in addition to sharing in online. This will help put pressure on Crime Stoppers and local police to step up their efforts to find Becca's abuser or abusers.
