Beaver-Lawrence Central Labor Council Recommends Wagner

March 29, 2010, the Beaver-Lawrence Central Labor Council (BLCLC) announced its recommendation for consideration of endorsement of Auditor General Jack Wagner by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO in the May 2010 primary election. Earlier this month Wagner also earned the Beaver County Democratic Committee's ensorsement.

BLCLC chose to back Jack because after our candidate interviews we felt he was the best candidate to represent working families said Dennis Bloom the President of the Council. He also has a plan to advance Pennsylvania into the future with a focus on improvements to our infrastructure. He has always had a good working relationship with organized labor himself being a card-carrying member of the IBEW.

I am grateful to have the Beaver-Lawrence Central Labor Council's support. As Auditor General I have fought to protect the rights of the men and women of organized labor uncovering violations of the prevailing wage, unemployment, and workers' compensation laws as well as violations of the fundamental right to form and join a union Wagner said. I will continue to do so as Governor.

Wagner has a strong history of union involvement. After graduating from high school he worked at Duquesne Light Company as meter reader, draftsman, and payroll clerk, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He remains an honorary member of the union today.
