What is the answer to a blah start of the Fall season? A makeover wouldn't hurt. In fact, it is a perfect time to reorganize the clutter of cosmetics lying around on the vanity and start fresh for the beautiful cold season fashion looks. Plus, being pampered was never a negative thing. Sephora has a personal approach to beauty and creates an experience for the senses. This company (a little trivia: owned by Louis Vuitton companies) has all of the luxe cosmetic labels and a staff eager to assist with choosing just the right product for the right effect each and every visit. There are even lines especially for the gents. With all that Sephora offers in store, there is an extra reason to walk in and enjoy an Express Studio makeover or to try out fragrance without the buyers remorse. With the partnership between Sephora and powerhouse makeup giant Smashbox, the place to be was at the Smashbox Master Class on October 26th. Beauty and education came together to inspire women with looks created by National Makeup Artists for the line.
Smashbox is a label that has solidified its presence in the beauty world. With products that perform under the harshest conditions and lighting, this line creates HD ready looks for an HD technology world. Born of a photo studio, Smashbox males certain that with the hot lights and flashes and the camera's close zoom, no woman will look bad wearing their products. In fact, each product goes through rigorous testing before it reaches the customer. With that type of road testing, there was such excitement in the air to actually participate as a demonstration model for the event.
My Smashbox pro for was Melissa, a National representative from Chicago, IL. She had a concept of the nude eye and bold lip, and I was ready to be transformed. The very first thing she tackled was my skin: I have good skin, but it can be a bit dry at times. The solution was to prime. The Photo Finish primer is not just another primer with hype , but a skin care foundation primer with ingredients that help the skin over time. I was truly impressed with how silky smooth my skin felt. The next product used was the new Liquid Halo HD Foundation, which uses Liquid Light technology to mimic photo blurring for complexion perfection. The whisper light texture was great, but the way that it covered the flaws without covering up my freckles was an added bonus.
One product really made me wild with delight, and it was in the color of the season, plum. The Be Legendary lipstick in the must have shade of Vivid Violet is the perfect berry color that has a depth that makes any set of lips ready for the Red Carpet walk. The impact and color payoff are as rich as the gorgeous matte black case. The beauty of the case is that it has a substantial feeling and snaps securely as to avoid any clutch or handbag emergencies.
I learned so many tricks of the trade and Melissa's brushwork was as stellar as her demeanor. There was an energy that one cannot buy inside the Sephora store at the Master Class. I took home a few items. Plus, I have a brand new respect for primer. A great quote: "It is a crime not to prime!" (this isn't my quote, but Melissa's...) would fit perfectly.
A few must purchase items from Smashbox would be( in no particular order):
1.The Master Class Palette II ($59, a $275 retail value!), with great shadows, blushes, a highlighter, and how to create amazing looks
2. Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder: anti aging powder with radiance, pure gold, and minerals
4. Any primer that fits your special beauty needs. It won't disappoint. My personal pick: Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer
