My previous trio of articles covered a routine for a spa day in the comfort of your own home. But we don't always have the time for an entire day! Below are a few suggestions for beauty treats that take less than five minutes each:
- Hands/nails: You'd be surprised what a little hand cream can do! Here is a quick two-minute manicure you can even do in the office. Combine a generous dab of hand cream with a couple of sugar packets. Rub this gently into your hands and cuticles. Rinse thoroughly, and massage in a little more hand cream to smooth everything out. Pay special attention to your cuticle area in both steps.
- Skin: This tip depends on whether your skin is on the dry side or the oily side. If you lean towards dry - dab a little gel moisturizer on your drier spots to smooth them out and erase the flakies. If you lean towards oily - I highly recommend blotting sheets instead of powder. Powder can get clumpy but the blotting sheets simply remove the slick spots without messing with your makeup.
- Lips: Did you know that a quick press-and-lift of some desk tape can help remove the flakiness? Don't press down too hard or you could chafe. Just press lightly, pull the tape off, and apply a generous swipe of lipbalm to smooth everything out.
- Hair: I am a big fan of the old standby - to bend at the waist and lightly brush your hair from underneath. Flip back up, and lightly smooth the top surface with a drop of hand cream to tame the flyaways.
These are just a few quick tricks to freshen up on your way out the door.
