Last year the Kirkland Performance Center stage was utilized to see a confluence of dance including ballet, modern and hip hop in Beauty for Ashes a dance production to raise awareness about the horrors of human trafficking. It was truly art which pushed the bounds and rocked its audience to the core. Those in attendance were faced with the reality of an injustice taking place not only internationally but also within Washington State (there are documented cases).
Christ Church Academy of Performing Arts is returning to the Kirkland Performance Center stage again this year with Beauty for Ashes taking place on June 21 -22. Beauty for Ashes uses dance and social action to raise hope for ending the dark reality of human trafficking and the ability to bring healing and restoration to those affected by it.
This dance production is a story of human trafficking and the power of restoration, being told by students ages 6 to young adult. The goal of Beauty for Ashes is to foster awareness and stir people to action on a grassroots level.
Nationally ranked hip hop crew Groove Nation is also featured in this production.
This year Beauty for Ashes is partnering with Not For Sale WA and a portion of the proceeds will be going to Not For Sale WA.
