Beauty and the Beast tour Santa Rosa (Photos)

American Family Theater will be performing it's production of Beauty and the Beast at the Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa on Tuesday April 9th. Founded in 1975 by Laurie Wagman, American Family Theater is a leader in the development of arts-in-education and travels throughout the United States presenting family musicals for all ages designed to enrich and motivate. Joanna Spioto from American Family Theater took some time to answer some questions for the Examiner:

Examiner: How do you select which productions you will present each season?

Joanna: Each year our founder, administrative and artistic staff review our roster of productions, as well as past touring schedules, and carefully select the titles for the coming season. We also base our selections on feedback from our audiences and the programmers from the venues in which we perform.

Examiner: Does the cast travel? If so, how do the young perfomers balance that with their schooling?

Joanna: All of our casts travel throughout the United States. The Beauty and the Beast tour is currently touring through the state of California. They will also perform in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennesse before wrapping up the tour with some performances on the East Coast. So, they are quite busy!
While American Family Theater productions are for young audiences, children do not perform in our shows. We utilize the talent of professional, adult actors.
The show just brims with imagination, adventure and fun! This production of Beauty and the Beast brings the wonder of the classic story to life on stage in a delightful production. From the sets to the costumes to the music -- and talented cast! -- the production is truly a tribute to the magic that only live theater can provide. Audiences of all ages will be enchanted!

Beauty and the Beast is presented through the Clover Stornetta Family Series with a post show meet and greet opportunity. Come early as an hour before the show the Family fun Series offers a free art party. Each art project is specifically chosen to complement the evenings show. Individual tickets are $17.00 for adults and $12.00 for children available at the box office or online.
