Update 5/8/14: Adopted!!
On April 29, a beautiful German shepherd named "Kitzel" was left at the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facility in Baldwin Park, Calif.
A volunteer who took her photograph stated:
Kitzel was quietly whining when I first saw her -- crying for the family who abandoned her. I believe she has partial blindness. She looks when people pass by but could not see the treat I was holding out for her. I went into her kennel -- she takes the treats very gently and wagged her tail when I talked to her and touched her.
Kitzel is eight-years-old...though she still has many years left to live, some might say that her "best" years have already passed. Unfortunately, most potential adopters are seeking out young dogs when they walk into a shelter.
Please take a moment to network on Kitzel's behalf - she deserves to be in a home, with a family who will love her for the rest of her days.
