'Beautiful Life' cancellation: Mischa Barton hospitalization to blame

With TV front-runners like Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, America's Next Top Model and One Tree Hill, why would the CW bother with 'Beautiful Life' drama?

The fall weather came upon actress Mischa Barton and for some, it was hoped the cooler weather would let Mischa find shade from the media spotlight.

Conversely so, with the CW's canning of her new show 'The Beautiful Life' the star's fall season is starting first with another fall to her fame.

While Barton and the other stars of the show, including Corbin Bleu, Elle Macpherson and Sara Paxton won't be hitting the unemployment office, they won't be smashing box offices either - Not with this gig.

After just two episodes and ridiculously low ratings, the series that was based on a script by writer Adam Giaudrone and executive produced by Ashton Kutcher is a series-no-more. Even with six full episodes produced, the show cancel request came during the filming of the seventh episode.

The show, which focused on the trials and tribulations of a model's life was said to be "plagued by production problems from the start", according to E! Online. Starting with Barton's hospitalization for emotional drain and a botched dental surgery in July, sources say Barton's leave was one of many reasons the CW had to put 'Life' to death.

"It was just too much for me to handle at the time," Barton says. Barton admits to hitting "rock bottom" at the time but says she's happy and healthy now. Good thing since she'll now be on a job hunt.
