Beautiful Existence is, indeed, the legal name of the Seattle resident who is rising to fame for her unusual and quite committed New Years resolutions. Her name came about as the result of a reflective time in her life during her divorce.
In 2011, her journey as the “year of my life” woman began. Beautiful began 2011 by vowing to only shop at Goodwill. This would not be too much of a challenge, as she already shopped mainly at thrift stores. After making the decision to shop at Goodwill, she chose to document it on a designated blog. She wrote specific blogs related to her experiences shopping at Goodwill, including “Tacoma Goodwill”, “Living Fly on a Dime”, and “Things I Found at the Thrift Store”.
She created a habit out of this annual challenge in 2012, when she elected to follow Parents magazine within her own family. This included the actual articles, suggestions (for parenting as well as products), and advertisements in the magazine. Again, she designated an entire blog to this year and her experience following Parents. Throughout the year, Beautiful wrote about her thoughts on the magazine, and her experiences in buying advertised products and listening to the advice of articles.
As for 2013, Beautiful Existence will only eat and drink food items from Starbucks. This year can be followed on her main blog, 1 Year of My Life. Lucky for her, Seattle has a Starbucks on every corner! She believes that if there are many areas of the world where people have extremely limited food choices, choosing from a Starbucks menu will be easy in comparison.
Beautiful Existence has now planned out more than 25 years of these year-long challenges. Believe it or not, she is not sponsored by any of these companies. She has chosen them in order to show the companies’ involvement in their surrounding communities.
