Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) is a young man from the South who is bored with where he currently resides. Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) moves into town and he falls in love.
Each are warned by their respective family members to stay away from one another and neither of them are listening.
Lena is an immortal and much is learned about history, their families and the town.
It's a beautiful movie that feels like the most divine play. However, if it were a play, it wouldn't have all of those special effects.
Amma: God gives us what we can handle, even if we don't believe it ourselves.
Amma: You better stay away from that girl.
Ethan: Amma, how did I get here?
Ethan: Look, can you insult me in the car? It's gettin' a little Titanic out here.
Ethan: Now, would you please stop raining on me?
Lena: You despise mortals.
Macon: I know that no good can come from loving mortals.
Mrs. Lincoln: You have no right to tell us what to do, no matter how much money you have.
Sarafine: You're a lot more like me than you care to admit.
Sarafine: You're right about the hat though. It's tragic.
