Mesquite, TX: Mesquite is a tiny suburb of Dallas most famous for being the birthplace of Jerri Hall. Boy ‘43’ is another supermodel.
Boy ‘43’ is six years old and ‘hard of seeing.’ He’s not completely blind, but kind of like Mr. Magoo. He is a beautiful mastiff/boxer mix whose mom was purebred boxer. The owner took Boy ‘43’ to the local animal control because he accidentally jumped on the wife. Knowing that his chances were slim to none, the wife still insisted he leave the only home he’s ever known. Even at that, he was mostly confined to outdoors.
This little shelter is begging for Boy ‘43’ to be rescued. He is obviously a loving sweetheart whose never had the chance to enjoy his life.
Reunion Rescue has saved several truly blind dogs. In fact, Vicente, our current current blind boy could be a cousin to Boy ‘43’. Blind or ‘hard of seeing’ dogs travel around with scent and by heightening the other senses. The first day Vicente came to Reunion Rescue No Kill Refuge, he figured out how to go up and down two flights of stairs and retrieve balls.
Our bet is Boy ‘43’ would make some lucky person a superb companion. In fact, imagine with those heightened senses, teaching a dog like Boy ‘43’ to do search and rescue work like we are planning to do with Vicente.
Blind and deaf dogs traditionally adapt well to a pack. Carmine, one of our former blind boys, gets around by following adopted sister Fiona’s jingling collar.
Please take a second look at Boy ‘43’ and don’t let him die because someone didn’t have the patience to help him. Take it from direct experience, these wonderful dogs have a gift of life they are dying to share with someone. Please share Boy ‘43’ and this story in hopes that his someone is out there waiting for a wonderful dog just like him, but just hasn’t seen him yet.
