Beaujolais Nouveau 2013 celebrates 1920s

Pour a glass of Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau and listen closely. Yes, you can still hear the celebratory roars when the “youngster” arrived in America.

For more than 30 years, French law declares that wine distributors deliver the first Beaujolais Nouveau to Paris in November then on to the United States. This unique wine is ($10.99) crafted from the gamay grape and bottled just at the end of harvest.

“The year’s vintage is a lovely purple-red color with aromas of wild strawberries, currants and fine scents of raspberries,” said winemaker Georges Duboeuf. “This wine is delicate, rich and perfectly balanced. On the palate this selection is lush and dense with a wonderful texture and a full-bodied appearance in the glass. It is pure joy to drink and an ideal wine to share with family and friends throughout the holidays.”

Every year there is a special theme and this year George Duboeuf “Nouveau Retro” tips its cork to the glittering spirit of the 1920s.

It pairs beautifully with classic 1920s dishes from deviled eggs to stuffed mushrooms and cider-glazed roast turkey. To jazz up your holiday and New Year’s table and showcase the wine’s bright flavors, serve this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau slightly chilled in crystal glass on silver trays.
