Beatles tribute cruise was huge success, organizer says

Woody Lifton, the host, coordinator and organizer of this year's Beatles Tribute Cruise, sent out a report today about this year's event, which took place March 5-13. He summed it up as "exciting, exhilarating and exhausting."

Lifton says former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber gave two acoustic guitar concerts filled with Beatles and Wings tunes. He also did a guitar workshop and private guitar lessons for a few of the guests.

"One of the great moments for me was watching LJ’s wife while he was onstage. Their emotional connection and love for each other was very apparent and, for me, very enviable," said Lifton.

Guest Tony Bramwell "was a huge hit with our cruisers. His knowledge of everything Beatle, his warmth and very British humor were on display for all to see. Everyone loved the films he brought with him, especially 'The Beatles At Shea' and 'A Day In The Life,' which most of us have not seen in many years."

He said Beatles tribute band Yesterday "was even better than I had hoped for. Their three performances totally rocked the house and the entire cruise ship."

And he had special words for Beatles artist Shannon. "I simply do not have the space here to list all of her accomplishments, but suffice it to say that she made another huge contribution to the success of our cruise. She donated the artwork for our poster and brochure, created her own special event by making a movie depicting many of her Beatles original art pieces (not photographs), showed a video of her appearance (playing the bass) in front of 7,000 people at the Lennon Remembered Concert in Liverpool, unveiled her new CD single called 'Stay Dynamite' (cruisers got to purchase the first 100 of a limited edition pressing) and contributed the grand prize (a signed and dated poster created for the Lennon Remembered Concert) for our raffle to benefit Thrive Survive of Los Angeles."

In summary, said Lifton, "all of our cruisers and special Beatles guests came away with numerous new friends and relationships something you cannot get at any other Beatles event.

He says a 2012 cruise is in the works.
