So we know we have several versions of the Beatles new release “On Air: Live at the BBC, Volume 2,” but a new mystery developed on Oct. 28. There is, of course, the regular version, the Best Buy version (for details, see our earlier story) and the four-disc slipcase, all coming out Nov. 11. But a listing on Walmart's site that surfaced Oct. 28 appeared to show the discounter had a special version of their own, adding to the question of what collectors needed to buy.
The listing is labeled as four CDs at the top of the page, but the detailed track listing below shows five CDs with the fifth containing only one track, the "Ringo Pop Profile." Five CDs? Is this the version to buy?
Not to worry. Walmart made an error and the listing is all wrong, an EMI spokesman confirmed late Monday. Their slipcase set is only the usual four CDs, not five. There is no fifth disc. The correct information is that “Live at the BBC: The Collection” is just both two disc sets in a slipcase with nothing new added. In other words, there's no special Walmart slipcase version, just the usual one with the regular releases packed together. And the Walmart error will be corrected, EMI told us.
We can hear your sighs of relief from here.
UPDATE: The listing has now been corrected and five discs are no longer listed, though the discs from the sets are mixed up and not in order.
