Beatles nominations get shut out in 2011 prime-time Emmy Awards

Three Beatles-related programs nominated for the 2011 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards came away empty when the statues were handed out and the awards announced Sunday night. 

"LENNONYC," originally aired by the PBS "American Masters" series, lost out to "Freedom Riders" in the Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming category. The program was also nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming, but lost to "Redemption Day." 
 
The entire "American Masters" series, including "LENNONYC," however, did win the Emmy statue for Outstanding Nonfiction Series.
 
"The Kennedy Center Honors," which featured Paul McCartney as one of those being honored, was nominated for Outstanding Music Direction, but lost to "Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway" on "Great Performances."
