Beatles news: Paul McCartney on the town; Pete Best not touring U.S.

Paul McCartney was seen in new pictures in the UK Daily Mail June 18 taken on his birthday that day with his wife Nancy Shevell, Ringo's wife Barbara Bach, George Harrison's widow Olivia, Joe Walsh and wife Marjorie Bach (Barbara's sister and Ringo's sister-in-law), and Glenn Frey of the Eagles and his wife, Cindy Millican.

And unlike earlier pictures where he appeared tired, he's looking better and more like his old self. Can you all stop worrying now?

Double bill: Sean Lennon's The Ghostt of a Saber-Toothed Tiger is now on a series of dates with Beck. The dates cover the East Coast with two also in Canada and run through the end of June.

Price watch: It didn't take long. The Beatles mono vinyl box, which was priced on Amazon at over $400 when it was announced, has already dropped $25 to $375.

No U.S. tour: The Pete Best Band posted on their Facebook page June 20 that the U.S. tour they had been trying to negotiate has fallen through. “We have pulled the plug on the USA dates,” their post read.

Give back his pictures: An online petition asking Maverick Music to return personal photos and video taken of George Harrison to his widow Olivia and son Dhani is online at Change.org. Maverick, which shows their Harrison items online, has a deposition given by George, personal photos and an unreleased recording of “Let It Be Me” among the items.

Snagged: The recently reported NBC Beatles miniseries doesn't have any music or likeness rights and also has a competing project from Sony Television, according to a report June 20 in Billboard, which said NBC execs called the report on the project “premature.” Be interesting to see if it happens at all.

Chart news: For the second week in a row, the Beatles are nowhere to be found on the Billboard charts. However, Paul McCartney's April 25 Estadio National concert in Lima, Peru, made the latest Billboard Box Office chart at #25. The concert took in gross revenues of $2,776,690.

Things We Said Today”: On our next “Things We Said Today” Ken Michaels and yours truly will discuss the news of the release of the Beatles mono vinyl box, plus we'll do a special list for Paul McCartney's birthday. It'll premiere at noon ET Saturday on http://www.Fab4Radio.com, then repeat there at noon and midnight ET Sunday. You'll also find it later Saturday at the website at http://beatlesexaminer.podbean.com.
