Beatles news: Paul McCartney health update; petition asks Hard Rock to back off

The May 20 edition of "Good Day New York" gave an surprise update on Paul McCartney and his health problems. According to Barbara Pazmino, co-anchor Greg Kelly got the ball rolling when he said it was surreal to sit next to fellow co-anchor Rosanna Scotto, who has been longtime friend of Paul's wife Nancy Shevell.

When he told Rosanna that it had been on news wires that Paul had to cancel shows because he had a virus, Rosanna said, "Oh wait, let me check how he is." Before the show, she got in touch with Nancy, who said Paul was doing OK and just needed to rest and recover.

Petition: A online petition started on May 20 is asking fans to back the Liverpool Cavern Club's lawsuit against the Hard Rock Cafe to let the Liverpool club have the exclusive name rights to it. The dispute was the reason for a lawsuit filed in Florida, where the Hard Rock is based. The Cavern Club announced in a press release May 14 it was taking the Hard Rock Cafe back to court in Florida in a bid to end a 20-year-old legal dispute over who is entitled to own the rights to the “Cavern Club” name in the U.S. The Hard Rock Club has bars in Boston and Florida with the Cavern Club name. The petitioners hope to get 10,000 signatures.

Latest chart news: On the Billboard charts for the issue of May 24, the Beatles “1” album is at #39 on the Catalog Album chart, down from #36 last week. On the Billboard 200, “1” is at #186, down from #181.

Antiques valuation in Blokker: To coincide with the Blokker Festival which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' legendary 1964 performance in Blokker, Bonhams auction house will do free evaluations of Beatles memorabilia in the town of Blokker in The Netherlands June 6-7. The Beatles in Blokker Foundation is hosting a three-day festival of music and concerts in celebration of the historic visit.
