Paul McCartney, who played the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2009, was caught by photographers April 11 attending this year's show as an observer. McCartney was photographed on the first day of the festival at Empire Polo Club in casual mode with wife Nancy Shevell. The April 11 lineup included Bryan Ferry, the Replacements, the Gabba Gabba Heys and OutKast.
Unreleased McCartney song to debut: Diana Krall told Billboard April 9 she'll be recording an unreleased Paul McCartney song for her next album that's due this fall. Krall said the song is an outtake from the “Kisses on the Bottom” album. “I still had a copy of the music and I asked him if he was OK if I did the song for my record and he said 'Sure,' so we recorded that and it came out just gorgeous," she told Billboard. Krall and her band backed McCartney on the album and played on the “Live Kisses” video performance that was released as a DVD.
Video goes viral: A YouTube video with 19-year-old Dylan Gardner covering the second side of the “Abbey Road” album in just under 3 minutes has gone viral since it was posted on April 9. The video has now has over 19,000 hits. Gardner sings each song in 15-second intervals in what appears to be his house. He says he did it for the anniversary of the Beatles' breakup and the video is “just me around the house having a blast covering my heroes.” See it in the video spot. (Thanks to James Janocha.)
“Things We Said Today”: Our latest "Things We Said Today" show with Ken Michaels features a wonderful conversation with special guest Dave Hull, who was a Los Angeles disc jockey during the Beatlemania years on KRLA-AM. Hull, who just published his autobiography, tells some great Beatles stories, including revealing who fed him inside Beatles info in the '60s. The program will air on Fab4Radio.com at noon and midight ET Sunday and will be found soon on our Podbean.com website.
