Genesis Publications announced July 7 its latest book is being published in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles movie “A Hard Day's Night.” The book, titled “Golden Dreams,” features unseen photos taken on the set of the film by Astrid Kirchherr and Max Scheler.
The book is limited to 2,500 individually numbered copies, each signed by Kirchherr and Scheler. Five different covers are available for the book with a choice of photos of each of the Beatles separately or a group shot. The cost is £185 (or $317 USD).
Back to the 'Early Days': Paul McCartney's new “Early Days” video probably surprised a lot of people when it was released Monday because it doesn't show the Beatles. “Early Days,” a track from his “NEW” album, is a song about his life as a Beatle and how he was determined to hold onto it. “They can't take it from me if they try, I lived through those early days, so many times I had to change the pain to laughter, just to keep from getting crazed,” a chorus in the song said.
The video is set in Mississippi in the '50s. “This is a time period that inspired The Beatles – American Rock and Roll and the Mississippi Delta Blues of the 50s. 'Early Days' is about the spirit and inspiration young musicians find in each other,” director Vincent Haycock says. It also includes another appearance by actor Johnny Depp, who's become a regular in McCartney videos. This is Depp's third: add this to “Queenie Eye” and “My Valentine”.
On stage again: Paul McCartney's return to the stage in Albany, N.Y. over the weekend made national news. That includes this great clip from ABC News that show that includes some of the marriage proposal that happened during the show.
A Lennon-McCartney reunion: The wonderful photo on this page is from October, but apparently a lot of people hadn't seen it judging from the reactions on Facebook when we posted it. But there you have Ruth and Angie McCartney and Julian Lennon – a McCartney-Lennon reunion. According to Angie McCartney, the photo was taken late last year at the launch of Julian's latest album in Hollywood.
Angie, of course, was married to the late Jim McCartney, Paul's father. Ruth is her daughter and Paul's stepsister. Angie has written a book about those days called "Angie McCartney: My Long and Winding Road" and she was also seen in "Good Ol' Freda."
