Beatles news briefs: John Lennon Ferrari not sold; British TV tributes Cavern

CAR AUCTION PARKED: Bonham & Butterfield's auction of the John Lennon Ferrari didn't take place Feb 5 as scheduled. Bonham spokesman Katherine Boyle told us, "The owner changed his mind and decided he didn’t want to sell the car so it was withdrawn from the sale." The car, which we wrote about in more detail here, was estimated at being worth €120,000 – 170,000 (roughly $155,619-$220,488 U.S. dollars).

ON THIS DATE: On Feb. 7, 1964, the Beatles landed at Kennedy Airport. As Mark Lewisohn put it in "The Complete Beatles Chronicle," "Right from the moment that their Pan Am flight touched down at John F Kennedy International Airport, the Beatles were subjected to every form of media exposure known in 1964: journalists, photographers, radio stations and TV news crews covered their every single move, many with live reports."
