Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hill is getting ready to auction off a classic guitar that once was used by the Beatles. The guitar, a custom-built VOX, was announced to be hitting the auction block in August and is expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000. According to Guitar World who reported the item on Wednesday was the centerpiece item of the upcoming Julien’s Music Icons auction.
The guitar was played by John Lennon and George Harrison during the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour era. While the guitar certainly has roots with the Beatles, the instrument was given as a gift to Yanni "Magic Alex" Mardas. Seen on stage as well as in museums, the guitar will now have an opportunity to be owned by a Beatles’ fan or museum that appreciates all the band had to offer.
The Music Icons auction is also auctioning copy of Please Please Me album signed by all four Beatles band members.
