Beatles and other photos by legendary lensman go on display today

What's being called the largest exhibit ever by legendary photographer Jim Marshall will open in Austin, Texas, starting today.

Thirty pictures of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and others are featured at Austin City Limits Live in the exhibit titled "The Jack & Jim Gallery."

The exhibit will display prints from Marshall’s personal collection for the first time ever in a public gallery. The event is co-sponsored by Austin City Limits Live and Jack Daniels (yes, that Jack Daniels).

Amelia Davis, executor of the Marshall estate, says the location befits Marshall's photographs. "To have the opportunity to display a lifetime of Jim’s work in a space that epitomizes the celebration of music truly captures the essence of his art,” she said in a statement. “This exhibit never happened during Jim’s life, so for him to finally receive the recognition he deserves is a thrill.”
