Beatle news briefs: Town plans Beatle statue; Hardly Bluegrass's Beatles accent

BEATLES LANDING: An Arkansas town where the Beatles once landed on their way to a dude ranch plans to honor the event with a statue, reports the Associated Press.  
 
MARY McCARTNEY APPEARANCE: Mary McCartney will sign copies of her photo book, "From Where I Stand," at Selfridges in London Oct. 22. As we wrote recently, she'll be publishing a veggie cookbook.
 
LAURENCE JUBER IN SANTA MONICA: Two-time Grammy winner and former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber will appear at 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at McCabe's Guitar Shop, 3101 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA. Tickets are $20. For tickets, call (310) 828-4497 or go to www.mccabes.com.

HARDLY BEATLES: Spent Sunday afternoon in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco at the Hardly Bluegrass Festival. The main attraction for us was Randy Newman, whose songs we love. It was great to hear him live again. So what does this have to do with the Beatles? On the way out, we passed Elvis Costello playing on the next stage. The song he was singing -- "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away."
