SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF THIS: Annie Lennox was among the more prominent names in the Queen's New Year's Honours list issued today in the UK. The former Eurythmics lead singer (and one-time music partner with Ringo Starr buddy Dave Stewart) was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her work with charities battling AIDS and poverty in Africa. We think her music work is tremendous, too. Congrats, Annie! Also honored was record producer Trevor Horn, a one-time member of the Buggles ("Video Killed the Radio Star") and one of the co-producers and players on Paul McCartney's "Flowers in the Dirt" album, as CBE (Commander of the British Empire) and Richard Thompson of Fairport Convention, also an OBE.

Annie's OBE is richly deserved.
