WHEN IN VEGAS: Olivia Harrison took her 91-year-old mother to see "Love' late in August. The visit was reported on the Cirque du Soleil's Facebook page. The page said the two women also met the cast after the show. Olivia, who seen the show over half a dozen times, was a driving force in making "Love" happen after George's passing. It was George who brought the idea of the show to the other Beatles after he became friends with Cirque founder Guy Laliberté.
APPLE BOX SET: We broke some news over the weekend about the Apple reissues boxed set. You say you didn't know there was one? Details are here: http://www.examiner.com/beatles-in-national/box-sets-for-beatles-red-blu....
CAMP McCARTNEY A BIG SUCCESS: We reported in August that Philadelphia DJ Andre Gardner, host of "Breakfast With the Beatles" on WMGK there (also KSLX in Phoenix) was holding a canned food drive called Camp McCartney before the Paul McCartney concerts there last month at the city's Wells Fargo Center. Gardner told us over the weekend the drive collected four tons of food in 34 hours. "Further proof that Macca fans in Philly are extremely generous!," he wrote us.
BEATLES BOOK TO BE REISSUED: "The Beatles", a critique of their music by New York Times classical music critic Allan Kozinn, is being reissued this fall. Although a classical music writer, Kozinn also has done many Beatles stories for the paper in the past, including interviews and features. He told us the new version has the text of the 1995 Phaedon edition, plus an updated discography, videography and bibliography, along with a new cover. His analysis of the Beatles is unique and very interesting reading. Full disclosure: We're mentioned in the book.

Olivia takes her mom to the show?
This is news?
Talk about scraping the barrel.
Some of us enjoy hearing news like this. Get over it.
I was wondering if Olivia's mom was still with us. How wonderful that her mom is 91 and is able to make this trip with her. Her mom looks great!
\Olivia has had too much sadness in her life in the last 10+ years.
Way to go Andre and Macca fans!
That is indeed very cool.
When I was at the venue each night, fans were bringing multiple items or small bags full of goods. Kudos to Andre who did a great job, was so gracious to everyone who walked up to speak to him (there was a long line!) and of course for his great radio show each week!
If you find this newsworthy then that is called being obsessive. What extended Beatle family members do with their time should not be of value to your life.
If it is..then consider your own sadness in your life.
We all lose family..that is life.Olivia has the resources and connections to never be alone.
Not all are so lucky.
Who died and made you God? Get over it.
This was not some paparazzi report. As I wrote, it was posted on the Cirque Facebook page. It was not a secret. And good for Olivia.
WTF...WTF? If you don't like reading about Olivia, then skip over that part of the column.
In your way of thinking, Steve should not cover anyone else but JPGR... no wives, no children, after all they are extended Beatle family members...
And regarding your psychological evaluation of those who enjoy reading about the extended family, maybe the question should be, who died and made you Freud?
Take no notice of this person.
I suppose info from Jack Douglas's Facebook I sent a couple moths back about the new Lennon remixing at Avatar studios and photos of him hanging out with Geoff Emerick in Vegas was somehow not news worthy.
Different strokes.

Different strokes.
This is though.
