A new movie about the Beatles, “Mersey Boys,” is now being filmed in New York City, Film News.co.uk reported today. The plot is about an art professor who clashes with one of his students, John Lennon. The film is inspired by Steven G. Farrell’s novel "Mersey Boys." (Also known as "Liverpool Roared" in its paper version.)
The movie stars Jordan Brown as Lennon, Jeremiah Stanfield as Paul McCartney, Brady Cudmore as George Harrison and Trevor Crane as Ringo, the site reports. Brian Epstein and Gerry Marsden also figure in the story.
Additionally, Beatles Examiner has learned a movie on the Beatles in Hamburg is also in the planning stages, though no other details on that project are available yet.
NEW PAUL INTERVIEW: Paul McCartney announced today on his website that he will be appearing on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Food Programme’ at 12:30 UK time (7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT) Jan. 27 to discuss the new campaign recently launched by the vegetarian frozen food company named for his late wife Linda McCartney. From the U.S., the show will be available online at the station’s website. The show will be repeated on Jan. 28 at 15:30 UK time (10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT) and will also be available to stream on the BBC’s iPlayer.
NEW McCARTNEY BOOK: Angie McCartney, who was married to Paul McCartney's father Jim from 1964 until his death in 1976, is about to publish her memoirs, reports the Liverpool Daily Post. “My Long and Winding Road” will be published by Rok Books on January 30. The book's foreward is by Cynthia Lennon. A two-day event book launch event will be held Jan. 30-31 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and guests Ruth McCartney (Angie's daughter), Freda Kelly of the official Beatles Fan Club, Billy Hatton of the Fourmost and several Beatles tribute bands. The show will be streamed from the publisher's site.
