Beatle news briefs: Liverpool Odeon endangered?; Beatles countdown; Super Sunday

LIVERPOOL ODEON TO BE RAZED?: We're hearing reports that the Liverpool Odeon, scene of Beatles performances, could be on the verge of being torn down at any moment. One source told us there are signs up at the venue indicating it's to be demolished, but others have relayed information to us that the building is still there. Could be something is about to happen, though.

45s for XLV: Chris Carter tells us his Super Bowl XLV Sunday "Breakfast With the Beatles" shows on both Sirius 25/XM 59 and KLOS-FM will feature nothing but Beatles 45s (aka singles once upon a time). For more info, see www.breakfastwiththebeatles.com.

COUNTDOWN: Ken Michaels of the Fab Fourum has weighed in with his top 5 Beatle events from the year 2010. It's on his blog. His choices are good ones, though we'd also add in Ringo's Walk of Fame ceremony because we were right there when it happened.

GILLIAN AND FRIENDS: L.A. Beatles tour guide Gillian Lomax of "A Magical History Tour," who recently met up with Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl in Los Angeles, went to see Ian Hunter, a former member of Ringo's All-Starr Band, last weekend and also met up with former Wings drummer Steve Holley. You can see pictures at left. And you can see interviews with Ian Hunter here and here.

SHAKE IT UP, BABY!: A "Twist and Shout Dance Party" featuring the Beatles Forever tribute band will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Aldario's Restaurant, 240 Naugatuck Ave., Milford, Conn. Admission is $40, which includes open bar, dancing and prizes. It's hosted by our Horror Happenings Examiner Charles Rosenay. Advance reservations required. For Reservations call Aldario's at (203) 874-6096. For event Info: (203) 795-4737.

LENNON-SALINGER CONNECTION:  The Feb. 14 issue of the Nation features an article called "The Ballad of John and J.D." by Charles Taylor. The article begins with references to John Lennon's murderer, whose connection with Salinger's novel "Catcher in the Rye" is known, but then examines the parallels between Lennon and Salinger's own lives as well. Given the connection with his murderer, it's probably not something that everyone will care to read, but it's out there if you do. You can read the article online here. (Registration required.)
