Several names familiar to Beatles fans were among those at the Liverpool Beatles Convention Aug. 25 at the city's Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool correspondent Donna Jackson of the British Beatles Fan Club told Beatles Examiner.
Among the guests (you can see their photos taken by Donna in the slideshow) were Len Garry of the Quarrymen, authors Joe Flannery ("Standing In the Wings: The Beatles, Brian Epstein and Me") , Leslie Woodhead (“How the Beatles Rocked the Kremlin”), Spencer Leigh (“The Beatles in Hamburg: The Stories, the Scene and How It All Began“) Sam Leach (“The Birth of the Beatles”) and Kevin Roach ("George Harrison That's The Way God Planned It"). Also at the show was Freda Kelly (“Good Ol' Freda”) and Beatles artist Shannon.
RUSTY ANDERSON SINGLE SCORES: Paul McCartney guitarist Rusty Anderson posted on Facebook this week his single “Effortless” by his band Rusty Anderson Afternoon was in the Top 10 at Radio 20 on 20 on Sirius/XM. NEW BRIAN RAY BAYONETS SINGLE: Meanwhile, McCartney bandmate Brian Ray tweeted the next single by his solo group the Bayonets, “Big Man Down,” will be released Monday.
TIE SELLS BIG: A tie given to a fan in 1962 by John Lennon sold for £3,000 ($4,674) in auction, the BBC reported Aug. 25. The fan, Joyce McWilliams, used to attend lunchtime sessions at the Cavern, where Lennon gave her the tie.
