JULIAN LENNON HONOR: Julian Lennon, Peggy Conlon, president and chief executive offficer of the Advertising Council, and the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation will be honored at a special Sept. 14 Butterfly Gala by the Lupus Foundation in New York City. Lennon will be honored "for his efforts to bring lupus to the forefront of popular culture, raise critically important dollars for research, and inspire those living with lupus and their loved ones around the world to band together and advocate for safer, more effective treatments and a cure." For more information about the New York City Butterfly Gala, visit, www.lupus.org/gala, email gala@lupus.org or call 202-349-1171.

BEATLES ON STEEL DRUMS: If you've ever explored Beatle cover versions, you know there are many different instruments that have been used to interpret the Beatles. Even Caribbean steel drums, as on Ebony Steelband's new album "Popular Beatle Songs." The track lineup includes "Yesterday" (which we've heard -- if you could imagine "Yesterday" with a Caribbean air, this is it), "Imagine," "Let It Be," "Michelle," "Eleanor Rigby," "Hey Jude," "Penny Lane," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Here Comes the Sun" and "Mull of Kintyre."

WHERE'S THE FAB FOURUM?: Mitch Axelrod of the Fab Fourum sent us this note: "“You’re probably wondering why a new Fab Fourum episode is not up this week. There was a technical issue last week with our web server. The latest episode, # 45 Wings Last Recorded Flight, went up last Thursday, which is very late. We decided to let everyone catch up and enjoy the last episode without having to rush to listen. We are diligently preparing for the Abbey Road on the River Festival in Washington D.C. where we will be doing several discussions including a podcast on the Decca sessions with Pete Best. We are all very excited. A new Fab Fourum episode will be up on Monday."

"LOVE" COSTUMES IN LIVERPOOL: Cirque Du Soleil is now displaying 14 costumes from the Las Vegas Beatles show "LOVE" at Liverpool’s Hard Days Night Hotel. The costumes, designed by Phillipe Guillotel and which include the characters Sgt. Pepper, Eleanor Rigby, Father McKenzie, and Her Majesty, will be displayed at the Hard Days Night Hotel Shop.

FISTFUL OF MERCY DEBUT: John Lennon Examiner Shelley Germeaux has a report and pictures on the live debut of Fistful of Mercy with Dhani Harrison and Ben Harper Wednesday in Seattle. The report is here.

NEW BEATLES POSTER: A new line of limited edition “Poster Editions” by photographer John Rowlands includes a 1965 Beatles photo. Others available feature the Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Bob Dylan. Most poster editions are 1,500 pieces, and each edition is signed and numbered by the Rowlands. Opening prices for Poster Editions average $50. You can see the Poster Editions at their website www.postereditions.com.
