ART RIBBON: Yoko Ono has been awarded the eighth annual Hiroshima Art Prize, it was revealed Monday. In announcing the award, the city described her as "active as a creative force for over a half century in various fields as an artist, filmmaker, poet, musician, performance artist and peace activist." It said "the awarding of the Hiroshima Art Prize to Yoko Ono acknowledges the substantial role her activities have in transmitting the message of the 'Spirit of Hiroshima' throughout the entire world." For the Tokyo-born Ono, this is quite an honor.
A DARK MOMENT IN BEATLE HISTORY: The Philippine Online Chronicles has a interesting and lengthy essay on the Beatles' trip to Manila in 1966 and the notorious incident at the airport where the Beatles and their party were roughed up. It doesn't try to justify it, but it does take an interesting look back. (Pictured: a poster for the Manila concert.)
BANNED!: It seems that Piers Morgan, who replaced Larry King on CNN, has this thing for banning people from his show. Madonna is banned for life. So is Heather Mills. The reason? Morgan is the one who introduced Mills to Paul McCartney and he told Entertainment Weekly, it's a "tiny reparation I can make to Macca" that she won't be on the show ever. Well there are two reasons to watch the new show.
CHARITY DESIGNATED: Thrive/Survive Los Angeles, a charity founded by Nico Juber, daughter of former Wings member Laurence Juber, has been named official charity of this year's Beatles Tribute Cruise. Juber, a Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor, founded Thrice/Survive to give support to young adult cancer survivors. Laurence Juber is the headline performer on the cruise.
MORE GUITAR: Beside the George Harrison Gretsch Duo Jet, another replica guitar in the news is Jackson Browne's Acoustic Signature guitar made by Gibson. Rock Music Examiner Phyllis Pollack talks to him about it here.

I am SOOOOOO happy to hear that Piers Morgan has banned Heather Mills from any appearance on his new CNN show. I already know that 98% of Brits (over there) cannot stand the 'former' Mrs McCartney...but the American public is "too" forgiving-more sappy if you ask me...but with Piers being here and standing firm to not allowing any air time for this opportunistic/greedy/vampire in female disguise...I salute him and will support his Talk show !!
Nah, we Americans don't forgive her either. we hate her too. Our jokes about her are even meaner. funny since Macca and Madanna are friends or something, it's funny that people he knows well are getting banned...
Not Macca and Madonna are friends...Stella and her are friends. Madonna even talked quite bad behind his back lately, so I wouldn't say they are friends.
Who will be banned next?
THANK YOU. I would bet that there is a long list of places that Heather is banned from. Maybe people that know of them could contribute to a list of all those places to this column. (-: I am sure it is lengthy.
Didn't Heather guest host for Larry King once or twice?
Madonna sure acted like a fan when her and Paul presented that MTV award in 1999. They've taken some shots at each other over the years, but nothing serious.
I kind of like Heather. She's fiesty.
She's also a pathological liar but then you can't have everything.
History might had been changed had it not been for the incident in the Philippine and John comment on Jesus, perhaps had things not gone so wrong for them during that period they might had continued touring...but then again we might not gotten an LP as great as SPLHCB. :)
I believe he's so voguin' to have Madonna on his show.
He's just asking for America's attention, 'cause he's still a nobody after all his TV appearances in all these years.
It's easy to dissect him; once someone has found him out, he's immediately all smoke & mirrors.
He's actually afraid of Madonna - 'cause she could be more intelligent than him!
Maddona said she would be bored at a Macca show. At least at his show you can watch him on stage and enjoy a real LIVE performance. Unlike PAUL, there are about 15 dancers on stage with her so you lose where she is on stage and need to watch the monitors. She also uses tapes on some of her performances. I would rather pay $300 a show and see REAL and LIVE performance than pay $50 and hear tapes and have to hope I am watching her and not a back up dancer.
I will become a Madonna fan when she racks up the amount of awards and public LOVE and respect that Sir Paul McCartney has.
Do you think Madonna's muzak has changed the world. She may sing about dancing changing the world but Sir Paul (and three other amazing guys) started a Revolution!
I said it before and I will say it again - GOD BLESS THE BEATLES!!!
