FAB FAUX IN HOLLYWOOD: Matt Hurwitz saw the Fab Faux last week at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. He wrote that "the band played the full albums of both 'Revolver' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' - including the "gibberish" bit heard at the very end of the latter! Highlights included 'Within You Without You,' played on sitar by Jimmy Vivino (soon to be musical director for the TBS's "Conan"), as well as 'She's Leaving Home,' complete with a beautifully-played harp."

APPLE PIECES: Here are a couple of links to Apple Records related items: an interview with Mary Hopkin in which she criticizes Simon Cowell's "X Factor" (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1322702/Mary-Hopkin-shes-ap...) and a Ray Connelly story about the history of the record company in the UK Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/apple--th...). LAST PLAY AT SHEA: Chris Reay sent us these thoughts after seeing the film: "This was more of a documentary than a straight concert film, but the history of Shea Stadium, The Mets, New York, Billy Joel, and other musicians who performed at Shea is quite enlightening. Billy Joel wears a Sheriff's star, like Paul wore, during the concert. Paul is interviewed, and the story of his being asked, and finally making the concert, is explained. He performs "I Saw Her Standing There", and then, after a backstage chat with Billy Joel, says that they should sing "Let It Be". Joel and his band perform "She Loves You" near the start of the concert. "I'm Down", from 1965, is shown; and it was thrilling to see that on a BIG screen. Sid Bernstein is also interviewed about booking the Beatles at Shea. There is even a segment on the Groundskeeper from Shea, who was there from the beginning to the end. He drove the Beatles off the field at Shea, and is the one who shuttles Paul to the stage area for the Billy Joel concert finale. A real, feel good film."
