Beatle news briefs: Happy birthday, Denny Laine; Beatle art competes for votes

FIGHTING FOR RINGO'S HOME: David Bedford, author of the great book "Liddypool: Birthplace of the Beatles," told us the Liverpool City Council "haven't shown a lot of interest but we keep banging on the door and hopefully they will eventually meet us." The Liverpool Daily Post recently reported the home has had grilling added to keep souvenir hunters at bay.

YOU SAY IT'S HIS BIRTHDAY: Denny Laine is 66 today (Oct. 29). Congrats, Denny.

TWO NEW STATIONS: Starting Nov. 6, Dennis Mitchell's "Breakfast With the Beatles" will air on KADQ, Classic Rock Z-94 in Casper, Wyo., at 9 a.m. Saturdays and CKSL, Oldies 1410 in London, Ontario Canada, at 10:00 a.m. Sundays.

ARTIST COMPETITION: There are three Beatle-related entries in Artist's Challenge now going on at www.wildfireapp.com.  Beatles artist Shannon, Kristin Turberville Haffey and Eric Cash, whose painting "The Introduction," about the meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, hangs in St. Peter's Church in Liverpool, are among the entrants. The winner gets free exhibit space at Artexpo in New York. You can vote for three entries a day. You can see Shannon's entry, Green Fruit, here.   Kristin Turberville Haffey's entry, "Just John," is here. And Eric Cash's "Love Is All You Need" is here.
