A BIG TURNOUT: You name it and just about everyone were there for Julian Lennon's art exhibit opening Thursday night at the Morrison Hotel Gallery. They included Yoko, Sean Lennon, Julian and Sid Bernstein (all of whom were in one incredible picture you can see here), Patti Boyd, May Pang, Sid Bernstein, Lou Christie, photographers Bob Gruen, Timothy White, Mick Rock and Henry Diltz. NY Rock Culture Examiner Jeff Slate has an eyewitness report. Lennon told Rolling Stone.com he'll have an album out this spring. He played an instrumental preview of it at the exhibit opening.
IN TRANSIT: The Beatles Story says the European peace monument to John Lennon has left Arizona for Liverpool. It will be officially unveiled Oct.9 by Julian and Cynthia Lennon. The museum and the Liverpool Echo are sponsoring a contest for tickets to attend the ceremony here.
DENNY LAINE: Will be doing two upcoming shows October 26 at Havana in New Hope, PA., and Nov 20 at Rockefeller Gardens, Ormond Beach Fla.
BACK TO SCHOOL: UC Santa Barbara has a class this fall called "Beatles On Film." Instructor Alison Anders tells us the course, for which enrollment is now closed, will attempt to cover the history of the Fab Four and beyond through films and TV and new media. Good luck, class! Do you know if Yoko and Cynthia met or talked while at Julian's exhibit?
I have seen a picture (can't use it here, unfortunately) of Yoko and Cynthia next to each other with Sean and Julian from the opening. So yes, it appears so.
Is it online somewhere...give us a hint!
