GETTING BACK TO MARYLAND: A formal announcement is coming with more details, but we've learned Beatles festival Abbey Road on the River will return to Gaylord National Hotel in Maryland next year after a successful first year. A spokesman told us the festival had 12,500 attendees there over the weekend.
EARLY BEATLE LANDMARK DAMAGED BY FIRE: The BBC reports the Kingways Club in Southport was damaged by a fire. It also says the club was where Ringo made his debut, but Mark Lewisohn says that was at Hulme Hall. Nevertheless, the Beatles did play gigs there in 1962, according to Lewisohn.
FORMER ELO MEMBER KILLED: Mike Edwards, who was with ELO from 1972-75, was killed in a freak accident, reports the UK Telegraph. Our condolences to his family. (Thanks to Lynn for the tip.)
