The Liverpool Echo reported Wednesday that10,000 people in several online campaigns now back the idea of naming a street in Liverpool for Pete Best. According to the article, the campaigns were the supporters picked up in campaigns on Facebook and Twitter.
Additionally, David Bedford, author of "Liddypool" and one of the backers of the idea to name a street after Pete, told us by email, " It is a great testament to the perseverance of campaign organiser Gene Grimes who has been supporting The Beatles in Liverpool for over 30 years, and now he has the public support of the Best family with Roag, Pete’s youngest brother, giving his total support to the campaign and for Liverpool to finally recognise the part that Pete played in the story of The Beatles. It has taken a change in the political leadership in Liverpool to make this happen, with the Labour administration now in charge they are determined to take responsibility for ensuring the legacy of The Beatles will continue for years to come.”

Hope Pete gets a street in Liverpool. Two years in the greatest band in the world merits a lousy street named after him I would think. Maybe it can "merge" with Ringo Starr street at some point....
