As we noted here following a summer excursion to Durango Mountain Resort, it’s a great place to get away and see a lot of different sites along the way and within driving distance, like: the Million Dollar Highway, Great Sand Dunes National Monument (on the way from the Front Range as you head west from Walsenburg), Mesa Verde, Telluride, Pagosa Springs, and so on and so forth.
The primary lesson we learned about the Durango area is that you can pack in a lot in just a couple of days, but you also miss a lot if you don’t stay for at least a week, like rafting, horseback riding, the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, fishing… on and on it goes.
Also, Durango Mountain Resort is featuring a new Total Adventure Ticket this summer, which includes any five activities for $49, including Purgatory Plunge Zipline, Alpine Slide, Bungee Trampoline, Miniature Golf, Climbing Walls, Water Runners, Sky Hike Adventure Family Ropes Course, Mechanical Bull, Bounce House Scenic Chairlift, Durango Mining Co. Treasure Panning, and Mountain Bike Uplift.
Given all that, Durango Mountain Resort is upping the ante with two Beat the Heat packages that provide lodging and Total Adventure Tickets for the resort’s alpine slide, scenic chairlift, the Purgatory Plunge Zipline and more.
Here’s how it works…
· Package one: $229 for two nights slopeside lodging and two Total Adventure Tickets
· Package two: $292 for two nights slopeside lodging and four Total Adventure Tickets
The packages are valid through Sept. 28, but are not valid until July 9. To take advantage of the offer, use promo code SBTH and call 800-525-0892 or book online at
