We're right smack in the middle of the dog days of summer and the one think that is on everyone's mind is staying cool. And of course looking fabulous! It's not as hard as you may think. In fact just follow the following fashion guidelines to make it through. Don't wish too hard for these hot days to be gone though, fall will be here too soon enough!

Sunglasses: Go bold or stay home! Rock some of the season's killer shades with mirrored lenses from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Kenzo and Miu Miu.

Sandals: Ditch the summer heels and opt for some cool and comfortable sliders instead. Check out Nike's Cool Logo Sliders or Isabel Marant's Holden Sandals.

Pastels: Don't think cotton candy pink or mint green. Instead opt for icy, lighter pastel shades like peppermint, pastel pink and bubblegum blue. Add some grown up twists like sharp pleats and chunky platforms to strengthen the look.

Art Prints: Pop art prints are a definite must have regardless of how hot it is outside. Look for pieces that have big swirls of color and demanding brush strokes in primary colors. These are perfect to match up with geometric prints or digital floral prints.

Backpacks: Leave the crossbody bag at home and use a backpack instead. An influential piece in many runway shows, choose a backpack in a bright bold color by Tommy Hilfiger or a space aged metallic.

Sporty Luxe: Rocking sports gear is still a hot trend this summer so stay cool in a sheer panel sport slogan tee. Pair with bold pattern trainers in the day and then dress it up with heels or sandals for the evening.

Be Worldly: Embrace your exotic side with a tropical shirt or tribal inspired pants. Another reason to be worldly? The fabrics are usually super lightweight so consider pairing them with equally light pieces like culottes or shorts.
