After battling the inclement weather, the Lady Bears women's soccer team emerged with a 1-0 victory over Green Mountain College Monday night in Poultny, VT.
The Bears won thanks to a goal in the 67th minute by Senior Cortney Poirier, whose unassisted shot trickled into the goal after deflecting off a Green Mountain College defender. The goal was Poirier's second of the season.
The Bears (5-1) have yet to allow a goal in any of their wins. Sophomore Kim Callahan made three saves at goalkeeper for Potsdam for her second shutout of the year.
Potsdam out-shot the Eagles (1-3) 16-8 in the contest. Poirier tallied six shots, including four on goal, while sophomore Heather Johnson, the Bears' leader in goals this season, finished with three shots.
Potsdam returns to the field this Wednesday, Sept. 15, at home against Cazenovia. Match time at Maxcy Hall's Turf Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.
