A bear walks into a bar; and while this is where there’s usually a punch line of a joke, there’s not one today. A bear really did walk into a bar, just like it owned the place according to the York Dispatch on Sept. 25.
A black bear walked into the downtown Juneau, Alaska hotel on Monday night and instead of offering it a drink, the bartende, freaked out. She started telling the bear, “No bear! Get out! No! You can’t be in here!” Most folks would run, but for some reason this bartender decided to stand her ground.
It sounded as if the bartender may have scared the bear because it turned and walked right out of the door it had just come in. After the bartender’s show of standing her territory, it took the bear just a matter of seconds to leave. State biologist Ryan Scott complemented the bartender’s reaction. He said it was good news that the bear took the hint and left. Over the summer two black bears needed to be put down in Juneau for causing a nuisance.
While bears have wandered into people’s homes in the past, not many make their way into businesses said Scott.
