Bear Republic GABF Cellar PartyThis Sunday, Bear Republic Brewing Company held a special event outside their brewpub in Healdsburg to show off their entries at the upcoming Great American Beer Festival. For the occasion they offered samples of all 22 beers they will be submitting at the festival this week as well as snacks for those in attendance.

Typically, each brewery is limited to 11 entries at the Great American Beer Festival, but with 3 brewhouses at 2 locations, Beat Republic was able to submit 11 each for their brew pub as well as their production facility. The bers available for sample were as follows:

  • Lindy's Mild (English Style Dark Mild Ale #51B)
  • Global Kölsch (German-Style Kölsch #41)
  • Double Aught Lager (Bohemian-Style Pilsner #25)
  • El Oso Lager (American-Style Amber Lager #33A)
  • Hefeweizen (South German-Style Hefeweizem #60)
  • Trebuchet (Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer #18)
  • Tripel (Belgian-Style Tripel #66B)
  • Cuvée de Bubba (Wood and Barrel-Aged Sour Beer #19A)
  • Norcal Ale (American-Style Strong BItter #53B)
  • XP Pale Ale (American-Style Pale Ale #45)
  • Rebellion (American-Style Strong Pale Ale #46)
  • Racer 5 IPA (American-Style Strong Pale Ale #46)
  • Apex IPA (American-Style India Pale Ale #47)
  • Racer X Double IPA (Imperial India Pale Ale #48)
  • Red Rocket Ale (American-Style Amber/Red Ale #49)
  • Heritage Ale (Traditional Scotch Ale)
  • Tribute Ale (Brown Porter #68)
  • Double Rocket (Imperial Red Ale #50)
  • Big Bear Black Stout (American-Style Stout #72)
  • Olde Scoutter's Barley Wine (American-Style Barley Wine Ale #76B)
  • PRO-AM ENTRY: Flash Point Porter (Robust Porter #69)
  • PRO-AM ENTRY: Ken & John's IPA (Imperial India Pale Ale #48)

The event started with a welcome from Ricardo Norgrove who explained to the crowd the inspiration behind this event. When at the Great American Beer Festival, there are so many beers available for sample, he had hopes breweries would offer an opportunity for their local supporters to try each of the beers and get an idea of what the big stage of the GABF is all about. He made sure to give the credit to his crew of brewers who he liked to the drivers of the top of the line race car he helps put on the road.

Good luck to Bear Republic as they have moved up top the mid-sized brewery level. In the past they have won 12 medals and claimed the 2006 Small Brewing Company and Brewer of the year award.
