A bear attacked a Florida woman who was out walking her dogs and although she managed to find her way to her neighbor’s home for help, she was seriously injured by the bear. The woman was doing the same thing she does every day, which is just walking her dogs in her neighborhood of Longwood, Florida when the bear came out of nowhere and attacked her, according to Sky News on Dec. 3.
While her injuries are not considered life-threatening, she is listed in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The bear was a about a mile away from a conservation area that is known for bears. The unnamed woman’s attack prompted biologists to search the area and set traps for the bear, but it was nowhere to be found. The crew hunting for the bear is using "glazed donuts" to lure the bear to the traps, according to Fox live today.
Fox News reports the woman was bleeding from the head after the bear mauled her. Her dogs were not hurt in this incident. The woman said she didn't see the bear before the bear had her on the ground and was mauling her.
After the bear attacked the woman it just ran away. Florida has received more bear complaints in recent years as the wild creatures venture into the neighborhoods for easy hunting of food in garbage cans and bird feeders. Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission member, Karen Parker, said, “It’s fall and the bears are trying to fatten up.” She also said “Out big message is remove attractants from your yard."
