Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is in full swing in New York City. Each designer has to have stellar hair alongside with their new spring designs. The stylists from L’Oréal Professionnel have been backstage at the Spring 2013 Houghton collection designed by Katharine Polk, creating “Beach Waves and Buns” to complement the collection of feminine lace and floral prints.
L’Oréal Professionnel Session Stylist, Laura Polko, created two looks that imparted the youthful exuberance of the clothing. “Too add a younger vibe, I went for sexy beachy waves and an unstructured bun pinned high up on the head,” said Polko.
To create beach waves, she prepped hair with L’Oréal Professionnel Mousse Volupté, $19, and twisted strands with a curling iron alternately bending the hair to create a more touchable wave.
For the crisp bun, the crown was first gently rubbed with the palms of the hands to create natural-looking texture. Hair was then brushed back, glossed with L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Rich Oil $32, for vivid shine, and the circular pinned shape was pulled gently apart with fingers for a softer, more approachable look.
