Beach Bunny brings us 'Electric Barbarella'

Ten years of swimwear evolution has culminated to today, 2014, and the ten-year anniversary of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, which is underway right now from July 17 through July 21, 2014.

On Friday evening, July 18, 2014, Beach Bunny Swimwear took us on a journey into a futuristic fantasy where fashion and cyber space collided into glamour and glitz.

It is simple to see why Mercedes-Benz rules the road as exotically decorated designer vehicles lined the entrance to the host hotel, The Raleigh, located on Collins Avenue in the heart of South Beach.

Friday evening, July 18, 2014, gave us back to back swim shows from Poko Pano, Dolores Cortes, Frankie's Bikinis, Clover Canyon, Wildfox Swim, We Are Handsome, Sinesia Karol and one of the best shows of the evening was saved for last. Beach Bunny featuring The Blonds, packed the Cabana Grande' tent to capacity in anticipation of what promised to be the sexiest and most grandiose fashion presentation of the night. As the lights dimmed and the music echoed throughout the tent, all eyes were fixated on the runway as three mannequin-like models appeared at the top of the runway. At that very moment, the venue exploded with dazzling beauty as Beach Bunny 2015 Spring Presentation 'Electric Barbarella' began.

These were not your ordinary swimwear designs, nor were they your ordinary models. Hailey Clauson opened the show, recognized face of the 2014 Beach Bunny Summer Campaign and seen on famous designer runways for New York and Paris Fashion Week in the past. Sports Illustrated superstar, Samantha Hooper, mesmerized with her sparkling and seductive smile. Yara Khmidan hit the runway after shooting the 2015 Beach Bunny Campaign. The newest addition to the team of tantalizing professionals is the brand's 2014 Model Search winner, Mathilda Bernmark.

Nothing could surpass this collection which transported us swiftly into a sultry future of the fierce fashionista living in a totally technological world. 'Electric Barbarella' has just landed and the 2015 Spring Presentation made us want to stay out in space and relish in the lavish pieces drenched in diamonds, electrifying colors, gleaming metallics and cosmic crystals. Stellar inspired prints displayed a vision of retro futurism combined with an incredibly sexy design aesthetic that we have come to expect and look forward to from this brand.

Highlights of the collection included a galactic python black bustier with skimpy bottom, a blade runner hologram and bright coral rash guard with brazilian bottom, astro vixen silver leather corset back one piece and intergalactic chained corset by The Blonds and worn with live wire brazilian bottom. It wasn't only about the swimsuit itself, but also about the cover up that has become an essential item for our swimwear wardrobe. A silk mesh seamed maxi dress, a stardust black with hologram glitter hi-low cover up were both futuristic and fashionable, worn by magnificent models. The show began with the cyber crystal shard corset by The Blonds and came to a dramatic end with the rainbow galaxy corset paired with the shooting star mint skimpy bottom.

So who is this design duo of The Blonds, contributing to the glittering gold of this outstanding collection? Phillipe and David Blond relish in the glamour that every woman should celebrate through her wardrobe. They have uniquely clothed some of the most famous starlets of our era such as Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, which are only a few of the names on their roster. Their individualistic approach to swimwear comes from their creative ability to work with chains, spikes and sequins in order to incorporate it all into a head-turning collection. Last night, July 18, 2014, The Blonds made their debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2015 in this collaboration with Beach Bunny. "It was definitely love at first sight with Beach Bunny, the details, the craftsmanship, the embellishments! Angela Chittenden is a visionary, and truly understands the modern woman," says The Blonds.

The show was hosted and presented by VOICO, the first "ready to drink" coconut water and vodka drink.

As the models paraded down the runway one final time and the highly respected woman behind the brand took her bow, Angela Chittenden, the audience truly seemed very impressed by this space-age display of magical swimwear brought to life on the catwalk. If this is any indication of the next three days ahead of us for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, we are in for a real treat as we reap the benefits of a ten-year anniversary of swimwear sensations.
