On Saturday, March 8th, Bea Jackson will be presenting a workshop on Traditional First Nation Teachings at American Indian Health and Family Services in Detroit, on the Southwest side not far from the Dearborn border. Admission is free to the public, and all are welcome. This is the first of two workshops, the next occurring in April of this year.
The event starts are 3:00 pm and lasts until 5:00pm. Participants are asked to bring their feast bundles. For those who are not familiar with the term, a feast bundle consists of your personal bowl, eating utensils, and napkin (preferably cloth). It is always wise to take a bottle of water with you as well.
In this event, attendees will learn how to make Bear Forgiveness Bundles. These will consist of natural materials. If participating, you are asked to bring blue, black, or maroon cloth of medium size, some small black stones or pebbles, some string in maroon or black. But lack of materials is not a bar to participation as there will be some limited supplies for use for those who cannot bring them.
If you would like more information, please call Nicole Fox at 313 846 3718 ext. 1212.
