Be strong and of good courage

This year’s mutual theme directs our youth to “be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9). The youth of the church are given counsel and many resources enabling them to bear their trials with courage.

Fortunately, the Lord cares too much about you to leave you completely alone. At times in your life when you are not exactly making the right choices, or feel abandoned or alone, He is still there for you. He loves you too much to leave you stranded.

The young men in the Parkwood Ward in Fort Collins were counseled recently to stand tall, and have courage in the face of evil. This is good advice not just for the youth, of course. It is for everyone, including you. There will be times when you will have a difficult challenge ahead of you. You may not know how to go about it, and dark clouds of uncertainty will make your path unclear. Be comforted in the promises of a loving God, and be not dismayed: “for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Every week as we partake of the holy sacrament, we make a covenant with God wherin, if we do our part to remain worthy of it, we will always have his spirit to be with us. Take advantage of this promise. Life your life in a way that is pleasing to your Heavenly Father, reach out to him in prayer, and he will be with you always to guide you on your path.
