Popular for their fresh ingredients and liquid nitrogen method, Smitten Ice Cream located in the heart of Hayes Valley, San Francisco, lures in customers from all over the Bay Area.
This small shop first started when owner, Robyn Sue Goldman, spent two years designing an ice cream machine that created the freshest ice cream from scratch. “Kelvin” was born and runs on liquid nitrogen, which allows customers to watch their order be made right in front of their eyes. Smitten prides in using fresh local ingredients and does not contain any additives, preservatives, or stabilizers.
The Fresh Mint, Chocolate Chip ice cream has the pure natural taste of mint that leaves a cool refreshing taste in your mouth. The crunchy bits of chocolate chip compliment the milky texture with spoonful of creaminess in every bite.
If you’re a chocolate fan, the TCHO 60.5% Dark Chocolate is the perfect fix. This creamy and smooth ice cream has the texture of gelato or frozen pudding. The ice cream itself is rich and is suggested with homemade pistachio or almond brittle.
The menu changes weekly as their classic flavors such as the Vanilla and TCHO 60.5% Dark Chocolate is always available. Unlike other ice cream parlors, Smitten offers a list of unique pairing that compliments the flavors such as brown sugar caramel ($.25), the spicy syrup ($.25), and homemade waffle cones ($.75). Prices range from $4-$11 for servings.
