In the days and hours before the New Year arrives, many are making plans for things to be better. It should also be a time of reflecting on what took place in the current year so that the same mistakes are not made. With this in mind, as you plan for 2014, remember to make S.M.A.R.T. goals.
S.M.A.R.T. goals are goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. Each of these components is essential for being able to maintain focus and complete the goals that are set. A specific goal gives enough information for it to be measured in order to know whether you are on target to attain it. Being realistic helps you to keep this as a goal you can meet, long after others resolutions have fallen by the wayside. Every goal should be timely, in that it should be able to get accomplished within a certain time frame. Know what you are capable of, then go for it!
