Be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect (Part 3)

"He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusts in the LORD, happy is he." (Proverbs 16:20)

"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." (Matthew 5:39)

Christ said to turn the other cheek, what does that mean?  This is how we handle matters wisely.  He is talking about neighbor relations.  Many times we have to yield to our neighbor or someone we know well in order to keep peace.  We must pick our battles and not get bent out of shape over every little infraction.  If we yield or allow ourselves to suffer a bit from a mistake or even something deliberate, we can make peace in the end and also be a good example to the other person.

It isn’t always easy to get over a hurt and some have a hard time especially if they are prone to hold grudges.Sometimes we think we have forgiven that person or persons, but in reality we haven’t! Sometimes those whom we love very deeply hurt us and we don’t know how to deal with it.  But Christ instructed His disciples how to deal with this situation.

Colossians 3:13-14:bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also [must do].But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”

You see that love is the bond of perfection which is what this article is all about! Learning how to be perfect like our Father!

Christ was betrayed and beaten so badly that His own mother couldn’t even recognize Him.  If He could ask His Father to forgive those who killed Him because they didn’t realize that they were killing their savior, what about us?  Can we forgive those who hurt us?

Luke 23:34:  “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”

Sometimes we can’t do anything but just forgive and forget and cover that ‘sin' or fault and show love to that person!  After all isn't that what Christ did for us?!
