"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJ)
Do you understand that? God wants to give all of us eternal life! Even to those who right now are evil! Now most people don’t like the fact that God is going to give everyone, including those who are atheists those who hate God and also those who are evil, a chance and opportunity to know Him and to repent so that they too will be given eternal life! God is a God of love. That is why He wants us to have and show love to all mankind.
Even when He destroyed the world in Noah’s time (Genesis 6:11-13) and only saved Noah and his family people think that God is a harsh God. But, He is the only One that can resurrect them back to life again! He was merciful by putting them out of their misery! They were all corrupt and had corrupted God’s way on the earth so He had to destroy them but He will bring them back to physical life at another time during the 2nd resurrection period!
“But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.” (Rev.20:5)
What are we as Christians expected to do when people hurt us either physically or mentally? Well, sometimes we can’t do anything if those who hurt us are just bystanders or are acquaintances. But what about a brother, spiritually or physically, family or friends? Does He expect us to roll over and be treated like a rug or be treated unfairly? Christ showed us how He wants us to react. All we have to do is to look at His example in the way He treated people and what He told us in dealing with others. When we have a problem with someone, do we use, love, humility and the mind of God to solve the problem? Do we want to help that person see the error of his ways or do we want to destroy him?
Most people want to resolve conflicts they have with one another but they don't know how! The hardest thing to do is to go to a brother and tell him that you have a problem with him, or that you feel that that person has done you wrong. Conflict resolution is one of the ways that the world knows you are a true Christian, but the hardest thing to practice! Christ said in John 13:35,"By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another."
This kind of love is not the mushy stuff most people think of, it is the gentle, kind, sharing and giving attitude that shows in how we treat others.
