Atlanta may not have the fast-paced glamor of New York or the fantastic weather of Los Angeles, but it is coming into its own as a sprawling city where you can find interesting little events, if you look hard enough. On Saturday, September 7th at 8:30 p.m., you can take part in the BeltLine's Lantern Parade, which promises to be a festive, colorful evening to celebrate the end of this soggy summer. Either buy or make your own lantern, and show up to strut your stuff with the glowing crowd.
This is the third year of the parade, which winds around the Eastside Trail to end up in Piedmont Park. Last year's event had over 1,200 participants, so you can expect a decent turnout, weather permitting. Check out the event's web site to find listings of work shops where you can make your own lantern.
There will also be live music and an art exhibit on hand, so grab your lantern and join the party!
